canthearyou: (I AM CALLING YOU FROM PORTLAND...OREGON)
[Oh hi Johto. It’s been a while since Gordon’s called in to let everyone know what he’s been up to, hasn’t it? Not to worry! Today, he’s going to let everyone know everything he’s been doing.]

CALLING IN TO REPORT A NUMBER OF THINGS. ONE, SINCE THE WEATHER’S FINALLY CLEARED UP, I’M HEADING OUT AGAIN ALONG WHAT THE SIGN POST BACK THERE REFERRED TO AS ROUTE 30. I THINK I HAVE ENOUGH SUPPLIES TO MAKE IT TO THE NEXT TOWN. IF I DON’T, I GUESS I’LL HAVE TO MAKE DUE BECAUSE IT WOULD BE A LONG WALK BACK TO THE STORE.

SECOND, RAN INTO A YOUNG MAN ON THIS ROUTE BY THE NAME OF JOEY. HIS POKEMON IS APPARENTLY SOME SORT OF RAT. I THINK HE SAID IT WAS A RATTAT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. APPARENTLY IT’S IN THE TOP PERCENTAGE OF ALL RATTATS. NOT SURE HOW THAT WORKS, BUT THAT’S WHAT HE SAID. WONDER WHAT PERCENTAGE OF POKEMON THE ONE I HAVE IS IN.

[He’s still not actually sure what Whismur is called.]

HOW DO YOU FIGURE THAT OUT? ALSO, NOT SURE IF THAT'S THE JOE COOPER WAS REFERRING TO, BUT IT'S THE ONLY JOE I'VE MET SO FAR.

THIRD, I’VE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE A WESTERN UNION HERE. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE CLOSEST ONE IS OR WHAT THE NEAREST EQUIVALENT IS?

AND FOURTH, TWICE NOW MY PHONE HAS DISPLAYED SOMETHING CALLED KANTO DISCOVERY TRAIL. WHAT IS IT AND WHY DO THE POKEMON ON IT KEEP FAINTING FROM VARIOUS DISEASES? IS IT A GAME? OR IS IT SOME SORT OF GUIDE ON HOW GET THROUGH THIS PLACE?

[Guess who accidentally found the apps section of the Gear?]

foolishwren: and the number of meaningful relationships ive formed is less than the number of public restrooms ive screamed in (just looked up the stats)
He-- YES, HE'S BEEN HERE FOR A YEAR!

'CAUSE I'VE KNOWN HIM THAT LONG!

[Actually a little longer, but Heather's never been one for technicalities.]

foolishwren: i have no clue what’s going on, ever, in any moment, at any point in time. who knows what’s going on? not me. not ever (let me just make one thing clear)
YES!

[... Of course, he's not too happy with her right now, so they haven't talked in awhile... but she's pretty sure they're still friends.]

SO YOU'RE, LIKE, HIS BOSS?

foolishwren: it turns out no one appreciated me saying "You got it, boss!" in an old-timey henchman voice every time anybody told me to do something (got kicked out of the BDSM scene)
Albert...?

UH... I DON'T THINK SO.

[She hadn't met Albert aside from a very brief, very bitchy conversation-- she hadn't known he had any connection to Cooper at all.]

[It would seem she'd missed quite a bit since the last time she and the agent had talked.]

[Donuts? JEEZ.]

[Heather stares at the screen a second, then takes a deep breath.]

DOES COOP KNOW HE'S HERE?

[She's guessing YES, probably-- he's usually on the ball about stuff like this. More than SHE'S been over the past months, that's for sure.]

'CAUSE HE HASN'T SAID ANYTHING AB--

[... Oh. Oh yeah. They're not really talking to each other right now. ... Which is probably why. She trails off abruptly in the middle of that thought, which is a little more awkward than normal since she was screaming into the speaker.]

[That much, she's already gathered.]

HE'S... SOMETHIN', ALL RIGHT.

... SO, UH... IS EVERYBODY IN THE FBI LIKE THAT?

[Because... he was the first FBI agent she ever met, and he wound up being about ten times weirder than she ever would have expected.]

Huh. Guess he's the exception to the rule...

[That part is more to herself than to him, although she raises her voice again so that he can hear her.]

Yeah, uh, THANKS FOR THE INFO, MISTER.... uh...?

[... She's not sure if she never caught his name, or if he'd said it at some point and it had just melded into all the other too-loud stuff that came out of his mouth.]

[AAAUUGH. For a second she wonders why on earth they aren't using video-- at least if they were, she could like... do an interpretive dance or something.]

[She settles for not bothering to repeat herself, instead just going for the introduction.]
