HELLO! IS THIS THING ON? CAN YOU HEAR ME?
[The voice speaking appears to be yelling as loudly as possible into the receiver, and sounds a little confused about his current situation.]
I’VE NEVER SEEN A PHONE LIKE THIS, SO I’M NOT SURE IF THIS CALL IS EVEN GOING OUT. IF ANYONE CAN HEAR THIS, I THINK I’VE BEEN KIDNAPPED. IT’S THE DAMNDEST THING THOUGH. I DON’T REMEMBER BEING KIDNAPPED. OR MY MOTHER LOOKING LIKE THAT! ALSO, WHAT KIND OF KIDNAPPING COMES WITH A FREE PET?
[There’s a brief pause before the silence is broken by more yelling.]
THOUGH I’M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT THIS THING IS. IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE ANY ANIMAL I’VE EVER SEEN. SEEMS PRETTY QUIET TOO. THEN AGAIN, THE MYSTERY PET ISN’T REALLY THE PROBLEM HERE. IF ANYONE IS RECEIVING THIS PLEASE SAY SOMETHING AND LET ME KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON. OR TELL ME HOW TO GET IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE WHO DOES. PREFERABLY THE POLICE OR THE NEAREST FIELD OFFICE. TELL THEM REGIONAL BUREAU CHIEF GORDON COLE WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK WITH THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU.
[After hanging up, or at least thinking he’s hung up, Gordon puts the phone away and kneels down to take a closer look at his Whismur. Yelling at it doesn’t seem to be doing anything besides freaking it out, so if anyone wants to try and prevent the volume level going even higher, now might be the best time to step in.]

Date: 2012-09-03 02:42 am (UTC)From:—Speaking of which, where is the aspirin. Apparently this is going to be a necessity now.
The problem, then, is why it's Gordon Cole. Albert hasn't spent a lot of time reflecting over the deep philosophical questions of what the hell he's doing here or why people are brought to this incomprehensible place or other such dismissible considerations; he's been spending his time with the concrete ones, like getting to Coop and figuring out what the hell that damn virus was all about and keeping his dog from killing herself attempting to devour rogue bugs in the tall grass. He's not Cooper. He's not the one inclined toward prophetic dreams. He deals in the reality, the nuances, the details.
The reality is, that's Gordon Cole on the other end of these Star Trek doohickeys, and just like with every other arrival he's witnessed thus far, there's basically no explanation why. Not any moreso than why Coop is here, or why Albert is here, or why any of the rest of them have been pulled into this godforsaken boondocks.
But that is, indisputably, Gordon Cole on the other end of the line. In the flesh, or so he presumes. And apparently saddled with a critter of his own, to boot.
...Dammit, where is that aspirin.]

AND WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT KELP?

Date: 2012-09-03 03:08 am (UTC)From:IT'S ME. AND COOPER'S HERE TOO; I'M SURE HE'S HEARD YOU'VE ARRIVED BY NOW. Him and the rest of this damn country.
[And naturally, there are passerby staring at the crazy man shouting into his Gear, and they are summarily treated to one of Albert's best and most withering gazes in return.]
THE GOOD NEWS IS, YOU HAVEN'T BEEN KIDNAPPED. FROM WHAT WE CAN TELL, AT LEAST.
THE KIND OF COMBO THAT MAKES YOU WISH YOU SPOKE A LITTLE FRENCH

[It makes him happy, really. He was lucky enough to have Albert stumble into this world - to have Gordon there as well is both a comfort and a treat.]
[Very audible grin in his voice, here. And yep, speaking up just for you, boss.]
I don't think you'll have much luck with the local police force, Gordon!

Date: 2012-09-03 02:58 am (UTC)From:COOPER? IS THAT YOU? GLAD TO HEAR A FAMILIAR VOICE ON THIS THING, BUT I'M A LITTLE CONFUSED. I'M NOT ENTIRELY SURE WHERE I AM. I DON'T EXPECT YOU TO KNOW SINCE YOU CAN'T SEE ME THROUGH THE PHONE, BUT I DON'T THINK I'M IN WASHINGTON ANYMORE.

Date: 2012-09-03 03:08 am (UTC)From:[... understatement of the year, honestly. But while Gordon never did see things exactly the way Coop did (and who ever could, honestly), he's always been willing to take it into consideration, no matter how far-fetched or out there the topic may seem. Visions and premonitions might not be common within the Bureau, but in their more specialized line of work, well.]
It's called Johto, Gordon! It's a completely different world.
