Case 005 | Audio

HELLO, EVERYONE. THIS IS GORDON COLE SPEAKING. I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT POKEMON EVOLUTION, AND I’M HOPING SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN ANSWER IT. NOW, I’VE READ THE HANDBOOK AND UNDERSTAND THAT POKEMON CAN CHANGE FORMS FOR SEVERAL REASONS, BUT I’M A LITTLE CONFUSED ABOUT SOMETHING. YESTERDAY, MY KRICKETOT EVOLVED INTO A KRICKETUNE. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS IS NORMAL.

[Or as normal as the Pokémon world gets anyway.]

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THOUGH, IS HOW COMMON IS IT FOR A POKEMON TO MAKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NOISE AFTER EVOLVING. I CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THIS SOMETIMES, AND I’M PRETTY SURE IT DIDN’T MAKE THAT NOISE BEFORE. IT SOUNDS LIKE…ACTUALLY, LET ME SHOW YOU.

GO AHEAD. IT’S RECORDING.

[There’s some silence, and then… this.]

IT’S REALLY STRANGE. ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT’S NORMAL FOR POKEMON TO GROW A MUSTACHE AFTER EVOLVING? BECAUSE THIS ONE DID. AT LEAST IT LOOKS LIKE A MUSTACHE. I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT IT IS.

[Reid is going the way of Cliffjumper, because seriously, guys. Writing. It's so much easier.]

As I understand it, that's completely normal for the species. It actually happens to a lot of animals here, but I don't think I've ever really heard a sound like that. I think Kricketots and their evolutions are vaguely related to regular crickets from back home.

You're in Goldenrod, right?

I'm still in Violet City with Mio. We can't really move around much with all this rain, so even if we wanted to leave, we're kind of stuck. At least we weren't caught out on one of the routes.
leftinbasketforfbi: (I should have known. I didn't.)

It depends. We both want to get the badge first regardless. I personally think that having the capability of riding a flying animal would be pretty useful in a place with no airplanes.

Mio is a girl who came here at the same time I did. We started traveling together, and we haven't really stopped since then.

[Also, she's fifteen, so he'd feel awful if he left her to fend for herself.]

No, you just get the capability of riding a flying Pokemon. For some reason, you can't do it without this badge. It makes no sense, but it's the rules of this place.

Yeah, Albert suggested it when I made my first post to the network. So far, it's worked for us pretty well.

Apparently, he has animals that range from levels thirty to thirty-five, so I suggest waiting until you either have a strategy to beat that or animals up to that level.

I think he knows. He doesn't know Mio, but he knows I'm traveling with someone.

[He's probably happy that someone is finally listening to him regardless of his Albert-ness.]

[Yeah, Reid's would probably still be around level ten if Yang wasn't so damn insistent on everyone training super hard. At a certain point, Reid just lets his Pokemon loose to fight on the outskirts of the town while he goes and actually earns a living.]

You could try letting your animals train on their own while you do other things. It seems to keep my roster happy.
leftinbasketforfbi: (Yeah I'm pretty awesome)

[personal profile] leftinbasketforfbi 2012-10-27 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, the fact that Yang can sense disaster and Reid is a walking trouble magnet might contribute to his seriousness about training.]

I almost wish my animals were the same. Yang and Elle always start pawing me if I've been reading for a while and they're feeling restless, and they won't stop until I've taken everyone out and gotten them at least half a level stronger. I have no idea how they have that kind of energy.
leftinbasketforfbi: (Jack stop being so cute)

[personal profile] leftinbasketforfbi 2012-10-28 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
At least that. It would definitely make it easier to travel place to place, and maybe they'll calm down a little once they've won a badge.

Neither do I, so hopefully having one will be informative. I'll keep you updated if I get one.

[The only reason he's taking that rule vaguely seriously is because of all the other crazy rules here that apply.]
