Case 004 | Audio/Action for Violet City

[Gordon’s in Violet City finally, but that might be hard to tell at first. His yelling’s probably doing a good job of covering up the background music.]

THIS IS REALLY SOMETHING ELSE. I HAD HEARD THESE THINGS COME FROM EGGS, BUT I HADN’T SEEN IT HAPPEN UNTIL JUST NOW. I’M NOT SURE WHAT IT IS OR WHY THIS EGG WAS DELIVERED TO ME, BUT IT HATCHED.

[In trying to work the Gear, he might’ve ordered an egg under the Breeding Centre’s newbie deal. He knows buttons were pushed and yelling happened, and then eventually an egg was delivered, but the specifics of the conversation are mostly a mystery to Gordon.]

I KNOW IT’S NOT A CAT. IT HAS BLONDE HAIR, AND A PURPLE FACE. ALSO IT SEEMS TO FALL DOWN A LOT. IT DOESN’T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE OTHER POKEMON I HAVE. DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A WHISMUR OR A KRICKETOT.

[He’s been working with the pokédex while out on Route 30. Thankfully, it has text display, so he was able to actually find out what his Pokémon are called.]

I WONDER IF THAT ENCYCLOPEDIA HAS INFORMATION ON THIS THING.

[The pokédex unfortunately has the read aloud function enabled, so Smoochum’s entry is getting broadcast across the PokéGear Connect at maximum volume.]

IT DOES. IT JUST HATCHED BUT EVERYTHING IS IN HERE. THAT’S AMAZING!

[And then quiet. For a couple of minutes at least.]

WOW! DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT? A BUNCH OF BIRDS JUST FLEW BY IN FORMATION. KINDA REMINDS ME OF THE BLUE ANGELS. WHICH ALSO REMINDS ME THAT I NEED TO CALL A CAB. NOT NOW THOUGH. I’VE TAKEN A TEMPORARY JOB IN THE CITY, SO THAT COMES FIRST. BUT SOON.

[He’s just going to assume that the right people will understand that and end the call there. Not to worry, he’s not actually expecting a black and yellow taxi to show up.]

ALSO, MADE IT TO TOWN LAST NIGHT, REID. TOOK ME TEN DAYS TO GET HERE.

[He got turned around a few times.]

I DON’T KNOW IF THAT’S HOW LONG IT NORMALLY TAKES OR NOT.

nobody told you about badges??

not that you really strike me as the type, but still

there is a gym in every major town or city that has trainers in it that you have to battle with your pokemon. the leader of each gym will give you a badge and some other things for beating them. like whitney in goldenrod will give you the spray bottle, and you also get things to teach your pokemon new attacks and stuff

it's not like a thing you HAVE to do, but a lot of people do go around challenging gyms. i've got four badges myself.
